Hoteliers have to deliver beyond expectations every day; so do hotel designers. It is no longer enough to provide a good night’s sleep and a good meal. Guests want an experience. It is up to the owner, operator and designer to create a package of style and service that provide guests with an experience pleasurable enough to make them want to return. This is exactly what we did with this Craftsman-style boutique hotel located in Santa Monica, California.

Velvet Hammerschmidt designed this 77 room boutique hotel with echoes of the Arts and Crafts Movement, Asian and Contemporary styles (while at HLW International). With tired business travelers in mind, the hotel was designed to provide a calm and cozy atmosphere that would evoke the comforts of home. Every element was selected to encourage relaxation-from the warm oak hardwood floors to the custom-designed teak furniture and luxurious fabrics.
