About the Project We warmed up this formal living and dining room with punchy paint colors, bold patterns, and an eclectic collection of accessories. Bold, striped drapes tie the living room back into the pumpkin orange dining room. The other patterns used are neutral tones and at smaller scales so as not to compete but rather enhance the others. For example, the dark taupe and cream Greek key rug is similarly geometric but medium in scale, and the whimsical small feather pattern on the sofa has a striped background. Reflective metal and glass accessories placed throughout help lighten the dark wood and rich colors in the adjacent rooms. Customized furniture was carefully sized to an appropriate scale in this high-ceilinged living room and adjacent, cozier dining room.
